NRF has predicted that Valentine’s Day spending should reach $23.9 billion in 2022, almost 10% up up from $21.8 billion last year and the second-highest year on record
Customers are expected to spend $175 per person on average on Valentine’s Day gifts, 6% up from 2021

According to NRF the most popular gift items are Candy (56%, greeting cards (40%), flowers (37%)About a third (31%) plan to offer an evening out in 2022, up from 24% last year and slightly below pre-pandemic levels, for a total of $4.3 billion

In terms of channels, online will be the most popular for Valentine’s Day this year, visited by 41%, followed by department stores at 32%, discount stores at 28%, local small businesses at 18% and florists at 17%
